To provide restorative and professional outpatient physical therapy in a holistic, multi-disciplinary team approach. The primary goal of BTS is to improve the patient’s quality of life by maximizing function and independence.
Mark A. Scott, LAT/ATC
Marketing Sports / Medicine Director
Mark Scott is the clinical athletic trainer who specializes in all sports injuries. Mark has a license in athletic training in the State of Texas and a national certification and recognition in sports medicine. His 20 years of experience include all levels of sports, such as the El Paso Diablos, El Paso Community College baseball and softball teams, El Paso Scorpions rugby team and the El Paso Rattlers roller hockey team and the El Paso Buzzards ice hockey team. He is currently working with the El Paso Community College Athletic Department and the El Paso Rhinos Junior Hockey Team. Mark also works with numerous high school athletes returning them back to competition as quickly and safely as possible. Mark works closely with the physical therapist in the P.T. clinic helping them return the patient back to work as quickly as possible. Mark also serves as the Director of Marketing and Patient Care for border therapy.
Wayne C. Shaw
MS, LAT, CSCS
Wayne has a Masters, Athletic Training, and Education Degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso. Wayne has been a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 1988 and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2002. He has trained athletes from NFL, MLB, NCAA, member of the USA National Men’s Softball Team, Professional Basketball players, and many local middle and high school athletes. Even though he rarely trains athletes currently because of the demands of running several businesses, he still involved in the direction, planning, and growth of HPC. Wayne had always thought there was a need for a high level sports performance center in El Paso. After opening Border Therapy Services in 2000 he and his partners decided to fulfill the need of sports performance training in El Paso. After much research, investigation, and education the dream became a reality in 2005, the birth of the Human Performance Center. We wanted HPC to be the best training Center in the region therefore; we have put together a unique comprehensive program that will help all area athletes improve their athletic performance. Being a former area and college athlete it is a mission of mine to help area athletes improve their athletic performance and help them reach their potential.
Mark Boncser
MSPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Mark Boncser M. App.Sc. P.T. 19 years practicing physical therapy. Graduate with bachelor of science in PT, Texas Tech Health Sciences Center 1990. Orthopedic certified specialist recognized by the American physical Therapy Association. Residency trained in manual physical therapy University South Australia 1995. Fellow of the American Academy of Manual Physical therapists.

Dave Rachel, PT, DPT
I have been a Physical Therapist for 22 years with most of that time spent in out patient orthopedic settings. I graduated in 1987 from Texas Tech University and have worked my entire therapy career in El Paso. I have owned my own place once before and have worked for several large groups including large national organizations as well as several one man situations. I was the director of therapies in a small rehab hospital at one time about 15 years ago. I am currently finishing a DPT program with Arizona School of Health Sciences and hope to have this done this summer.
With Border Therapy Services I was the initial employee/owner to begin our business and have been on the job every day for the almost 9 years we have been open. As an officer, I am the Secretary of our Corporation. For BTS, I am the Clinical Director and as such it is my responsibility to see that we follow all the rules governing therapy in the state of Texas. I oversee all matters concerning staffing and scheduling if there are problems and the clinic managers report to me per the organization chart. All clinic licensure, insurance plans and University training contracts go through me for signature and I am the Clinic Coordinator of Student Education.
Christa Bringas, MPT
I'm a 2006 graduate of the U.T. El Paso physical therapy program. I also have a B.S. in Kinesiology with a minor in biology. I particularly enjoy working with clients who have shoulder issues - especially post-op rotator cuff repairs. Some of my hobbies include: running (I'm currently training for the San Antonio marathon in November), swimming, yoga, going to the movies and spending time with family and friends.
Michelle Rios, PTA
Michelle received her masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2008. She also holds a minor in Kinesiology and Biology. Michelle’s clinical interest includes Sports Medicine and knee rehabilitation. Her hobbies include running, lifting weights, playing basketball and spending time with the family.
Danny Gonzalez, PT, OCS
Danny graduated from U.T.M.B. Galveston in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. He is also an owner of Border Therapy Services. He is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties - May 2001. He successfully completed the Orthopaedic Manual Therapy Program through the Manual Therapy Institute, San Antonio, TX. - June 2000. He has over 10 years of experience in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy with 9 years in Occupational Medicine including 2 years of on-site therapy experience. He has extensive training and experience in Manual Therapy, Scandanavian Exercise Therapy, McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, Job Pre-placement Testing, and Impairment Rating. He also has over 7 years of management experience.
Paul Garrido, MPT
Paul J. Garrido attended the University of Texas at El Paso graduating with a Master's in Physical Therapy May of 2003. His 6 years of experience include acute, home health, and Outpatient physical therapy. He is certified in McKenzie A, B, and C treatment and diagnosis of the spine. He has been working exclusively with outpatient orthopedic patients for the last 4.5 years. Paul has also donated a portion of his time to assist with the medical care of the El Paso Rhinos hockey team during the last 2 years. His areas of concentration inlcude sports injuries, shoulder pathology, and knee injuries. Currently Paul Garrido is the Manager at Border Therapy's Trawood clinic.
Joel Martinez, MPT, PTA
Graduate with Masters in Physical therapy from the University of Texas at El paso in 2006. Certified in both A and B methods of Mckenzie treatment and diagnosis of spine. Areas of concentration include sports rehabilitation, shoulder, and knee. 3 years of clinical Orthopedic experience all with Border Therapy Services.
Paige Farrell, MPT
Paige Farrell graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester, NY with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2002 and began her career as an orthopedic and sports medicine therapist in Missouri. A majority of her eight years of experience was spent in Cleveland, Ohio where she also earned a certified strength and conditioning specialist certification. She also gained five years of experience as clinic manager and later clinic director. Her therapy approach focuses on the use of manual therapy and custom exercise programs to improve upon movement impairment syndromes, post-surgery conditions, and traumatic injuries. She also has experience performing functional capacity evaluations for workman’ s compensation injuries.
Manny Hernandez, MPT
Manny received his masters in physical therapy from the university of texas at el paso in 2009, where he graduated at the top of his class. He also has a bachelor’s degree in kinesislogy with a minor in biology. Manny’s clinical interests include shoulder and knee rehabilitation as well as a special interest in sports medicine. In his spare time,many likes to spend time with his family, work out, bowling and hitting golf balls at the driving range.
Efren Herrera, MPT
Efren Herrera graduated from UT El Paso with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Biology. He went on to pursue a Masters in Physical Therapy and graduated from the UTEP Physical Therapy program in 2009. Efren is a native of El Paso who graduated from Irvin High School in 1996. He spent the next 5 years as an Engineer in the US Army before returning to El Paso. Efren is now dedicated to providing quality Physical Therapy to his patients, and hopes to continue his education focusing on the rehabilitation of patients with prosthetics in order to better serve the veterans in the El Paso area.
Carlos Lopez, PTA
Graduated in 2004 from EPCC with an Associate of Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Carlos as worked with pediatric patients, home health and now the orthopedic setting. He has a special interest in sports medicine and sports Rehabilitation. He is currently pursing a masters degree in sports management for California University of Pennsylvania. “ I enjoy running and mountain biking”.
Travis Magden, MSPT
I was born and raised in El Paso and a 2002 graduate from Franklin High School. While I was there, I played on the football team as the quarterback, ran track, and was the vice president of the National Honor Society. I then went to the University of Texas at El Paso and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. I was accepted into the Master’s in Physical Therapy program at Texas State University in San Marcos and graduated in May of 2009. I love sports, especially football, and just became a 30-year season ticket holder for the Dallas Cowboys in their new stadium. For my career, I want to focus on manual therapy and honing my skills.
Veronica Feuerstein, PTA
Veronica Feuerstein attended EPCC, graduating with an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Physical Therapy in May of 2000. She received her license in April of 2001. During her practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant, she attended Park University graduating Magna Cum Laude in May of 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology. She has spent nine years in Occupational Medicine and Outpatient Physical Therapy, including aquatics, medicare, work hardening, work conditioning and pain management.
