Leslie Givens, CHT, PT, DPT

Leslie Givens began working at Border Therapy in April, 2019. Leslie graduated with her Bachelors of Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University in 2011 and went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan in 2015. Leslie has experience working in outpatient orthopedics and enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic and post-operative patients.

Leslie also went on to become a Certified Hand Therapist in November of 2020. As a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT), Leslie was required to practice for a minimum of three years, accumulate a minimum of 4,000 hours of treatment of hand and upper extremity disorders, and pass a rigorous certification exam to demonstrate competency in upper extremity care. Today, she is able to provide specialized care to patients with injuries of the fingers, hand, wrist, and elbow which may be caused by trauma, disease or congenital deformity. Common injuries and conditions include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, tendon injuries and lacerations, fractures, dislocations, crush injuries, nerve or neurological injuries, burns, and overuse or repetitive strain injuries. Leslie employs a variety of techniques which include: Graston technique, specialized activity and exercise programs, custom orthosis fabrications, pain and swelling management, and wound and scar care. She truly enjoys specializing in caring for patients with upper extremity conditions and ensures they are educated on what their personalized healing and treatment process will be as they move toward a safe and full recovery.

Leslie is married to her husband Stew and enjoys spending time with her dogs, hiking, traveling, eating and being outside. Leslie also enjoys fitness, and has an athletic background of competitive gymnastics, collegiate rowing, Olympic weightlifting and crossfit.
